What a relief, I have just finished the 100 blog comment challenge. If you want to know what it was all about I wrote about it in a previous post: Generating Traffic with the 100 Blog Challenge.
It was no mean feat either I can tell you. I started on 8th August and finished last night the 25th, just five days before the deadline. Although I decided at the beginning that I would visit 5 blogs a day sometimes I didn’t. At one stage I thought that I would never finish it in time. It seemed a never ending task.

Now this is one of those ideas that makes you say why didn’t I think of that. Like all good ideas it seems so obvious after someone has come up with it. After all the oil rig hopping that I was doing for generating blog traffic for Alex’s blog traffic competition a couple of months ago this should be a breeze.
What is the 100 Blog Challenge?
The challenge is to get 100 individual comments on a blog post. The idea was born out of a throwaway comment Jacinta Dean made on an internet training forum.

I recently listened to a very interesting interview of Steve Shaw owner of SubmitYourArticle.com. At the end of the interview Steve offered a free 30 day trial of his unique article submission service so of course I grabbed it.
We all know that submitting your articles to a number of article directories is a great way to get valuable backlinks and traffic to your site but it can be a very tedious job unless it’s automated.

Getting enough free targeted website traffic has been the bain of my internet marketing life. When I first got online I dabbled a bit with Google Adwords and Yahoo search marketing but never really had any success with it. I got put off by the stories of people running up huge credit card bills with them. So all my attempts at traffic generation has been using free methods.
I have tried email blasters, traffic exchanges, list builders, free ads, articles, press releases, forum posting, blog commenting, social book marking, and more recently Twitter and videos. Maybe I am not doing enough of it consistently enough but I have never seen the boost in traffic that I was expecting.

Link juice is not the latest fad in health drinks but you need it for the health of your blog or website. Without link juice your site is not going to be ranked by the search engines. Without traffic your site is dead.
So what is link juice?
Link juice, or link love as it is sometimes called, is a term that you have probably seen and heard all over the internet but do you know exactly what it means? I had an idea but wanted to find out more. With a bit of research I discovered that the term was first used by SEO consultant Greg Boser.

Nouse is a word I have not heard nor used for a long time. It’s an old English word that means know how or skills. I saw it mentioned in a newsletter that I received and it gave me an idea for this title. It’s funny how these things happen. So what has it got to do with free traffic generation?
Well coach Alex set his students a competition to see who could drive the most traffic to his or her blog from 11th May to 7th June. When I visited the forum recently I saw a post by one of the students about the number of visitors he had to his blog and I was devastated.

After the numerous Webinars on getting traffic to our sites it became clear that using social media is fast becoming one of the most popular with internet marketers. It’s a great way to build your brand and image as well as getting free traffic so I thought it would be a good idea to look at some of the social media tools for marketing.
When I first started on the internet I heard the term Social Media being tossed around quite a lot but I had no idea exactly what it meant. So let’s have a look at that first.

Well this week’s mentoring has been about getting free traffic to our blogs. The whole purpose of getting traffic is to get people to sign up to your lists so you can make money working online. There have been 5 Webinars over 5 consecutive evenings packed with the most amazing stuff ever. Talk about information overload. So much to do, I hardly know where to start. There are many many ways of driving traffic to your blog but as I go oil rig hopping around other student’s blogs it’s clear that if you are blogging for website traffic you have to brand yourself to be a successful blogger.

Some of the students are already standing out from the crowd with the way they write and are getting a lot of comments on their posts because of it. I feel deflated. Why can’t I write like that? My post seems so mundane by comparison. Will people be interested in what I have to say?

Yes, that’s what my mentor Alex says to do to get traffic to your blog. Oil rig hopping is his term for blog commenting. This week’s seminars are all about getting free traffic to your blog. With one seminar each night it’s been mind blowing so far and there is still more to come!
Alex likens blogs to oil rigs. Algae grows on the legs of the oil rigs which attracts shell fish. They attract little fish which in turn attracts the bigger fish. Your blog content is the algae and the people who comment on your posts are the fish.
Oil rig hopping is visiting other people’s blogs and leaving valuable comments on their posts. This activity has the effect of naturally driving traffic to your own blog if done correctly. Traffic is the lifeblood of your blog. You can offer your visitors free stuff to entice them to join your email list, send them to your website or affiliate products. This is how you can make money working online.
