Turn $100 into $2000 Challenge Week 1 Results

make money on the internet

Well, it’s been a week since I started the Turn $100 into $2000 Challenge and as promised I am reporting on my results so far.

Just to fill you in, if you haven’t got time to read the post, Dean Holland announced this Challenge last week in his webinar for the Licensee Partner Program. (Contact me if you want to know more about this program.)

All the group have been challenged to see if they can turn $100 into $2000 in 60 days spending no less than an hour a day generating free traffic to their blogs.

The free traffic methods that we had to implement this week consisted of:

I have had a struggle to do this in 60 minutes a day as I am on a 4 week break in Spain with my husband and have also had to maintain my new IM list that I am building, post to my detox blog and write my weekly detox newsletter.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining because I love it but we do like to get out and about while we are here. Besides, it is my choice to keep sending out the newsletter to my subscribers if I can and I do have some articles virtually ready to post.

In the past I have had more time before we came away and had some posts areadly lined up on my blog scheduled to  posted on certain dates. Not this time though.

So, back to the results of my Forum Posting and Blog Hopping.

Traffic generated:  87 unique visitor in the week.

I had stopped posting to this blog for some time because of other projects I was working on and my traffic had dropped right down. It was The Quick Start Challenge that got me back to it again.

Bounce rate was excellent at 36.78% which means that people are staying on my site to read the content. Wish I could get a bounce rate as low as that on my detox blog!

Of that number only 5 came from my posts in the Warrior Forum and 7 from Website Babble Forum which I have been a member of for some time and is the other forum I have been posting in.

Interestingly 16 came from Facebook but that may have been members of our group.

This is a disappointing result as I see one of our group got 180 visitors in total and Craig had 89 visitors in one day!

Forum Posting

Craig, Dean’s operations manager, has started a new blog for this challenge and has been posting in the Warrior forum to drive traffic to it.

I’ve taken a look at what he’s been doing to see if I could figure out how he get results like this. I have come to the conclusion that it’s a lot to do with his signature as it is very compelling.  I think I will change mine as a test.

Also, I see that not only has he been commenting on posts but had started some threads himself which is something I haven’t done yet.

I have to admit that I don’t get many posts done in the 60 minutes as it takes time to find some new posts that I can actually add something useful to.

In some cases they are too technical for me to anser even if I research them online or they are asking about something I know nothing whatsoever about.

Blog Commenting

It has taken me some time also to find blogs that get a lot of comments, I can be one of the first to comment and I can add something of value to the post. You want to your comment to be noticed by others and be helpful enough for others to click through to your blog.

Week 2 Free Traffic Method

Next weeks free traffic method is  to be social bookmarking. I have already written several articles on this blog about social bookmarking:

Delicious Social Bookmarking For Publicity

How To Get Traffic To Your Blog With Digg

I must admit that social  bookmarking is not something I have done a lot of recently due to time constaints. I really need a VA!

I will be posting an update on this free traffic method and the results next week.

If you have any gret tips on social bookmarking for my readers please leave a comment. Thanks!

  1. Hi Sandy,

I enjoyed reading your update. Try not to be too disappointed with the results, I’m sure all our results are different and, as the weeks go on, things could fluctuate in either direction for everyone.

The main thing is to keep on taking action, providing value and don’t give up. This is only the tip of, what I feel will be, a very big, very interesting iceberg! 😉

    1. Hi Glenn,

I am not a quitter that’s for sure. I know it’s early days yet and results could change at any moment.

Well see what week 2 brings.

      Have a great weekend.

      Sandy

  2. Hi Sandy,

Enjoyed reading your progress. Finding good blogs to comment on is hard work. I mentioned this in my post as well. I found a way. Usually I look for a high traffic commentluv blog and then comment on it and look at the post links of other commenters. If I like them I’ll click on the link and hop over to make a comment there. Then I repeat the process. This really reduces the time for commenting.

    Take care,

    Dita

    1. Hi Dita,

I do exactly the same thing for finding blogs to comment on. Great minds think alike! Lol
It’s often a good way to find some newbies. Even if they are not getting much traffic they could be potential leads or subscribers.

Thanks for taking time to read my post.

      Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Kabenlah,

You are right. There are a lot of other important factors that can get traffic and quality content is one thing that Google looks for in ranking your site.

  3. Hi Sandy, nice blog. I think the fact that so many of you guys in the 60 day challenge are actually doing what it takes to drive free traffic on a daily basis is very commendable. I just recently join QSC and it really inspires me to see how persistent you are. 87 visitors in a week is nothing to sneeze at when you consider how many bloggers there that have been trying for a lot longer are getting a lot less.

Keep up the good work 🙂

    1. Hi Terry,

It does help to spur you on when you see others getting some results from the hard work they are putting in. Consistency is they key. Often people give up when they don’t see immediate results but these things take time to build up.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and good luck with the QSC.

    1. Hi Hicham,

You are right. Traffic from Social Media sites can be good. It pays to be social on these sites too. It’s always best to pick a couple of methods and stick to them. Consistency is the key.

Thanks for stopping by with your tip.

      Sandy
