Being an Entrepreneur – Difficult, But Rewarding

What is it that makes someone an entrepreneur? Is it success? Is it fame? Is it as simple as having a good idea? What really makes someone an entrepreneur lies somewhere between fame and fortune and the seed of a good idea.

Being an entrepreneur can be a tough and extremely demanding job, but it can also be an extremely rewarding one. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as watching what began as a simple concept take shape until it turns into a full-fledged business or organization. It may start with having a great idea, but it certainly doesn’t end there.

Being an entrepreneur starts with a good idea. There are many ways to get inspired for this great idea, and inspiration can come from just about anything: from reading a book, watching television, hearing someone complain about an inconvenience, or even from a dream.

Once inspiration strikes, you have the seed from which you can grow your business.  This is the beginning of any entrepreneurial endeavour, and you simply can’t become an entrepreneur unless you have some sort of business idea. But, as you already know, the idea is only the beginning. If you stop with the idea alone, you’re just a dreamer.

The next step to being an entrepreneur is to invest in that great idea of yours and to make it a reality. This step often involves bringing others into the process. You may want to get feedback from other people you trust. You may want to get feedback from what you see as your potential customer base in order to gauge how well a product or service like yours would be received.

You might want to talk to an established entrepreneur to get advice on how to make your dream a reality. And you’ll certainly want to get investors involved so that you have enough business capital to make your dream a reality.

The last step to being an entrepreneur is the hardest one: you have to take your dream and your resources and turn that dream into a reality. There will be obstacles along the way; you’ll have to solve problems and make a lot of big decisions and take a lot of risks in order to make your dream a reality.

You may never make it to the cover of Entrepreneur Magazine, but your success won’t necessarily be measured in dollars. It’ll be measured in your own personal satisfaction in meeting your goals.

  1. Hi Sandy, good post. It can be quite isolating and lonely on the road to being an entrepreneur without the backing and support of friends and family. I work by night as Ive 2 busy kids all day. I know things will get easier!

    1. Hi Orla, Thanks for dropping by. Good to hear from you again. How are things with you these days? I find that when you work on the internet family and friends have no concept of what it is you actually do.
      To easier times. Sandy

  2. In these economic times, internet is the best place to start a business. With knowledge and little money a person can earn money in a realistic way.
